What we're doing...

MCC received notice of great need to support children who have been orphaned, mothers with infants and people living with HIV/AIDS. In response, MCC began to support a small community in Africa. In addition to food for the children, MCC provides community leaders with funds to buy feed for the chickens they have on the farm, cooking oil, medications, meal and flour.

What they need...

MCC churches worldwide, in partnership with The Fellowship, recently responded to an emergency request and supported the community's needs after an influx of residents. Thank you! However, there is an ongoing need to raise approximately $15,000 (USD) for monthly relief, including food and medication, for the women and children.

Update

Rev. Glenna Shepherd, Rev. Jim Mitulski, Rev. Penny Nixon and Joshua Love of MCC have all been on-site within the last two years. Their presence allowed respite care for children and their caretakers and they participated with the Y.A. Flunder Foundation in several development projects — a well, a fishery, a bakery and an HIV clinic — intended to help the community become more self-sustaining.
If we can help with financial requirements, the community should be able to meet their needs. (24 June 2008)
